Mindset – it’s a word we hear often. It affects so many areas of our life. Mindset practices often include mindfulness and self-care.
I want to talk about our mindset specifically when it comes to confidence in our day to day. Our mindset shapes our beliefs, drives our behavior, and ultimately, molds the reality we live in. It’s the lens through which we view our challenges and successes. It plays a crucial role in how confident we feel day in and day out.
When it comes to our mindset, it’s not something that just gets stronger or more positive after a few days. It really is a life-long practice. I used to think if I just thought about happy things that my mindset would be different. Focus on the positive and all the negative things will just go away. It doesn’t really work that way. There is some work involved.
So what can we do? Here are 3 mindset practices that will help you build confidence.
Develop a morning routine that works for you
You might be wondering, what does a morning routine have to do with building confidence? Your morning routine is how you choose to set the tone for your day.
This will look different for everyone depending on your specific likes, needs, and family dynamic. A few ways you can be mindful about your mornings are taking time to read, quiet time, prayer, moving your body, journaling, basically anything where you are not looking out to the world to give you your first thoughts!
Be mindful of what you are eating and the exercise you are doing
The food you choose to eat and the way you choose to move your body, are going to directly impact how confident you feel. And no I don’t mean from a how you look perspective only.
Embrace a non-restrictive approach to eating. You don’t have to cut out anything completely or never eat your favorite treat again. Honor what your body needs to feel its best while also allowing yourself to enjoy the things you like. Once I started feeling good and satisfied, my body wanted more of those foods. The same thing goes for exercise. Honor what your body needs!
How does this point back to confidence? Because I AM confident in the decisions that I am choosing for my health and body and ultimately that is going to point back to the confidence I feel every day. Try it and you’ll be amazed!
Have mindset check-ins throughout your day
The biggest thing with this one is the awareness of how you feel. Give yourself space to have those check-ins and make pivots in your day when it’s needed. This can be something you write down, share with your spouse or a friend, or maybe just sit and think about yourself.
Here are a few questions you can ask yourself:
- How am I feeling today/right now?
- Is there anything that is making me feel overwhelmed?
- What am I looking forward to today?
- What are 3 things I’m grateful for?
Awareness of self is huge and will help you feel confident in decisions that you are making, ways you interact with others, being a mom, wife, friend, all the things!
