That time of year is here! HOLIDAY SEASON! Enjoying this time with a positive mindset makes all the difference.
How do you navigate holiday eating with a positive mindset? I want you to be able enjoy all the treats and desserts without feeling guilt and shame for doing so. Where do you start? How do you make sure that you create and maintain that positive mindset?
I do this by changing the negative thoughts I have about food to positive ones to create that positive mindset.
- Instead of “I can’t eat this” say “I’m going to enjoy this treat” No one likes to miss out on their favorite treat! You don’t have to! Go enjoy that treat friend!
- Instead of “This meal is going to set me back from my goals” say “One meal isn’t going to ruin my progress” I promise you, that one delicious meal that you get to enjoy with the ones you love will absolutely not ruin all your progress and hard work.
- Instead of “These desserts will make me gain weight” say “I have the self discipline to stop when I’m full” Remember your hunger and full cues. You can definitely eat dessert, just stop when you’re full. You won’t feel good if you overindulge but you’ll feel satisfied if you eat the dessert.
- Instead of “I’m going to have to workout extra to burn these calories” say “I’m grateful to have a rest day with my family” Just because you had an extra treat yesterday doesn’t mean you have to take time away from your family to workout today. It takes more than one treat and one day to put you in a significant calorie surplus. Spend the day with your family without feeling like because you had a treat, you have to workout.
No one likes to sit out on their favorite family events, holidays, or meals and you don’t have to! You can create a positive mindset around holiday eating and enjoy the food just like everyone else while reaching your goals. Enjoy it!
