This is for the woman who doesn’t want summer to just ‘happen’ to her. She wants to be intentional with her time, her energy, and how she shows up for herself.
This time of year is crazy. School is getting ready to release for the summer, your routines are changing, and you’re prepping for a new season ahead. For me, I’ve needed to do a quick check-in and ask myself “How am I feeling right now?” and “Do I want to feel like this during the summer?”. I’m not talking about a summer to-do list but about who I want to BE this summer – on purpose! You can do this too!
So often we head into summer with a bit of chaos. Kids are out of school, routines are completely thrown off, your personal time is gone, and that all-or-nothing thinking starts to creep back in. You’re not alone in this. I used to be the same way. Summer came and went and ran right over us. When we don’t check in with ourselves, summer can become something to survive or look back on with frustration. We don’t want this! And let me tell you, you can enjoy your summer and stay connected to your goals, your health, and your identity.
Who do I want to be this summer?
Maybe you haven’t thought of it this way before. But you can do all the things you want. Reflect on these questions:
- How do you want to feel in your body this summer?
- What kind of energy do you want to bring to your family?
- How do you want to treat yourself – physically, mentally, emotionally?
Maybe you are the mom who wants to play at the beach without overthinking her body, the woman who makes time for a morning walk and feels proud of herself, or the friend who says yes to fun and honors her boundaries. Whatever it is, you can do it! You don’t have to wait for fall to get back to yourself.
How are you going to do this? Let’s shift into the woman you want to be this summer.
- Define her. What qualities does she have? Is she confident, joyful, relaxed? Then, think about what she would be doing differently on a random Tuesday in June?
- Simplify your focus. Choose ONE area to commit to (nutrition, movement, mindset, habits, etc). You don’t have to fix everything to be her. Focus on one small thing that helps you feel like YOU.
- Build a 5-minute anchor habit. Create a non-negotiable habit that grounds you daily. It could be anything from waking up and getting in a morning stretch to journaling, or a mindset check-in.
The most powerful shifts don’t always come from doing more. They come from choosing differently. Remember, becoming a more energized, confident, intentional version of yourself this summer is possible and you are worth it!
