Mindset is everything and can play a HUGE role in our lives. Obviously, there are many things that play into this and some things that are outside of our control but there are simple mindset shifts that we can make in our lives to help us view ourselves in a more positive light.
There are moments in life where I am so hard on myself. It’s easy to get in a negative headspace sometimes. I used to live in that negative headspace. That negative way of thinking and not addressing how I was feeling caught up with me and I knew I needed to make a change.
I want to talk about 3 mindset shifts you can start today. These might be things that you are currently trying to do or maybe you have tried to do in the past. I hope these 3 things are a great place for you to start when it comes to your mindset and the way you view yourself.
The first mindset shift you can make is focusing on progress and not perfection.
I’m a health and mindset coach so I see a lot of striving for perfection. We get in our heads that the only way something is worth doing is if it’s done perfectly. But that leaves you feeling defeated if you do fall below your expectation of perfection.
When I stopped striving for perfection and started working toward progress in the day to day, that is really where I began to see growth. That is where my clients begin to see growth too. It’s not in the big decisions you are making, it’s in the small, everyday habits that you are forming.
Setting attainable goals for yourself is a way to keep the needle moving forward in your progress. Focusing on the small wins that encourage you to keep going! Those small shifts can help you grow in your confidence. It can help you have more grace and compassion for yourself. It allows you to slow down long enough to recognize all the incredible things you are doing. Leave perfection at the door and work towards progress in your day to day!
The second mindset shift you can make is having an abundance mindset instead of a scarcity mindset.
I used to very much live in a scarcity mindset. I was always afraid that there wasn’t going to be enough or that things were going to run out. If someone else around me was successful, there wouldn’t be enough success left for me. It can be this never-ending cycle that crushes your confidence and ability to show up every day as the best version of yourself.
Another thing that has helped me when it comes to the scarcity mindset is to speak things out loud that I’m telling myself. Sometimes we don’t even realize we are living in that mindset. Another thing you can do is keep a journal where you express gratitude. You can focus on opportunities for small wins that you are experiencing.
Shifting to an abundance mindset can help you become more confident in different areas of your life, help you take opportunities as they come, and even reduce stress in your life!
The last mindset shift you can make is self-doubt to self-trust.
I used to struggle a lot with doubting myself. When I doubted myself, I didn’t trust myself to make certain decisions. This was a huge issue in my life because, as you can imagine, it affects every area. I didn’t trust my choices in business, being a mother, wife, the list goes on.
When I practiced trusting myself, everything changed. Trusting yourself gives you confidence, is empowering, and puts you in a better mindset.
The way I practiced this was by doing the things I said I would do. For instance, if I said I was going to play with the kids after school for 30 minutes – that’s what I did. I followed through to myself with the things I said I would do. It has made a huge difference for myself and the whole family.
I want to encourage you to focus on one shift and start it today!
