How Your Faith & Health Are Connected w/ Etta Gibson

Have you ever wondered how our faith and health journey are connected? I have thought a lot about this over the years myself.

Etta Gibson, someone who I admire so much in the health space, has helped me understand the correlation between my faith and health. Because of her experience, I asked her to help me describe to you how faith and fitness are connected and how to use your faith to fuel your journey to a healthier and more fulfilling life.

Etta is a wife, and business owner, and has been a personal trainer for 23 years. What sets her apart is her deeply rooted belief that faith and health are intertwined.  

Her faith has been prevalent in her life since middle school. She knew she was called to her own ministry. earlier in life. She then had an AHA moment when the Lord brought it full circle, that spiritual health, physical health, and mental health go hand in hand.

Etta took her personal training business to another level because she knew that when we feel better about ourselves, we are more confident in the calling God has on our lives.

What ways does faith play a role in establishing and maintaining a healthy lifestyle?

Etta and I both can agree that it plays in every aspect. The solution we all want to get to is to feel confident, peace, and joy NO MATTER WHAT! There are some things we cannot control. When we are spiritually ready for the battles of life, we can handle them physically better. 

What are some practical things can you do if you are someone struggling to find the connection between your faith and commitment to a healthier lifestyle?

  • Write down all the reasons you don’t think they are connected.
  • Prayer! Pray and ask God where He would have you start.

I asked Etta how her faith serves as a source of resilience and motivation when she is facing setbacks and challenges. 

She said start with focusing on the truth in God’s work to know that your worth is not tied up in your health. Above all else, lean into and rely on the strength of God to help you get back on track!
