Success Isn’t About More Goals, It’s About More Action

Setting goals isn’t going to get you the results. Taking more action will. So often people get stuck thinking they need a better plan or more goals but what you actually need is better execution. I know that may hurt a little because I’ve been there myself. But think about this – How many times have you set a goal and done nothing with it?

Why more goals aren’t the answer

I don’t want to discourage you from making goals but here’s the truth. Goals feel productive, but they’re often just procrastination in disguise. You have likely (or will be) caught in the trap of writing the goal down, thinking about how great it will be, and never actually following through… I know this has happened to me before. But don’t turn to another goal, you don’t need another goal, you just need to move, to take more action!

The real difference between goal-setters & action-takers

This makes all the difference when you are trying to reach your goals. You can set as many goals as you want but until you take action, you won’t see the results.

Goal-setters are stuck in planning mode, waiting for motivation, and making excuses. If you want to reach the goals you’ve set, you have got to get out of this part. Instead, you want to be an action-taker. 

Action-takers move before they feel ready, they execute, and they adjust as they go. This doesn’t mean you won’t have setbacks but when those come you don’t stop and start over, you just keep going the best you can. It’s all about progress not perfection. 

Here’s the harsh truth friends – no one cares about your plans. Your results come from what you actually do. It’s all up to you!

How to start taking more action RIGHT NOW

Let’s get you taking the action you need to start reaching those goals!

  1. Set micro goals that force movement – making a small change in how you make goals can make a huge difference. For example, instead of “I want to lose 20lbs” commit to “I wil hit 10k steps daily this week”.
  2. Reduce the time between decision & action – don’t wait til Monday or the first of the month or next week, start NOW. 
  3. Build self-trust through follow-through – every time you keep a promise to yourself, you build confidence. This is true for even the ‘smallest’ of goals. Every time you don’t, you reinforce self-doubt. 
  4. Measure action, not just results – track the workouts, the meals, the consistency, not just the weight loss. 
  5. Stop waiting for motivation – rely on discipline – motivation is a feeling, it will come and go. Action creates results. 

What’s one thing you’ve been thinking about doing? Do it TODAY! If you don’t feel ready, do it anyway! Success doesn’t wait for you to be ready.
