A New Year-Step By Step

As you approach the new year, consider areas where you want to see growth in your life. Create different categories on where you want to grow. These areas could be health, relationships, and simplifying your home. In order to grow, evaluate the areas in your life where you want to make some changes. It's a new year, make a plan step by step. 

If you desire to feel healthier and lose some weight, set goals that you can easily attain in the new year. If you want to just get off the couch and start moving, start by walking 10 minutes a few days a week. Perhaps you like to walk every other day. Just figure out what works best for you and your schedule. Remember that it is one foot in front of the other. 

Take a look at how you eat. Start to incorporate vegetables into your meals. If you love to eat dessert, add some fresh fruits that you can find during the current season. Exchange dairy for Almond milk or Coconut milk. Eat more meals at home. When you go out to eat, browse the online menu before you sit at your restaurant table. Have a plan ready to go before you get there. If you love soft drinks, replace those with a fan favorite, Topo Chico. Drink your coffee black or switch to Nutpods or Coconut milk for your creamer.

When you look at your relationship goals, evaluate the people you surround yourself with on a weekly basis. Are they building you up, encouraging you, and supporting you in your growth? Are you involved in the lives of others where you can pour into them and be a mentor to someone in need? Are you able to come alongside each other and walk through life together? If you are lacking friendships, look for ways to meet people. Join a Bible study, church group, book club, or cooking class. Maybe a running club. Look for ways to meet people who can celebrate you, encourage you and want you to win.

Perhaps a third goal in your life is to live more simply. It will help your finances, time, and create less stress in your life. If you attempt to spend the day working on your whole house, you’re going to give up. One by one, pick a project for each room of your home. Find the problem areas in your house and create specific tasks to get rid of the stress. Maybe the mess is a pile of clothes, stacks of paper, or an old, empty dresser that is 100% a dust collector. Realize that the space in your home is valuable, and every area of the room is prime real estate. Don’t make it your goal to fill every corner or keep up with the latest trends on social media. Your home is your haven. Work to minimize your belongings. Give things away, sell certain items if you can but overall, work to find peace in your home.

This new year, set goals that align with your life and what you want to accomplish. What do you dream of seeing in the future? If you desire to see positive changes, you must take the first step. Don’t look at the big picture and get overwhelmed. You’re not going to reach that final goal in one day. But bit by bit, task by task, you will get there.
