3 Ways to Build Confidence Through Daily Action

Success isn’t about setting more goals – it’s about taking more action. The real game changer is daily action. The more action you take, the more confidence you build. Confidence isn’t something you’re born with or something you magically wake up with (although that would be super nice) – it’s something you create through daily habits and decisions.

Most people wait until they “feel confident” before they take action – but truthfully confidence comes after action, not before. The more you show up, the more you trust yourself. 

(1) Keep the promises you make to yourself

Confidence is built through self-trust. When you tell yourself you will wake up and walk today and you do it, you’re building trust in yourself. Every time you follow through, you reinforce that trust. If you say you’ll work out 3x this week – do it. If you say you’ll drink more water – follow through with that. Small wins = big confidence.

(2) Do hard things on purpose

The more you prove to yourself that you can handle discomfort, the more confidence you build. Push yourself in workouts, have tough conversations, and get out of your comfort zone. Confidence is built in the moments when you want to quit but choose to keep going. You can do this!

Whether these hard things have to do with your health journey, your personal relationships, or your work they will help you build confidence.

(3) Take fast, imperfect action

Overthinking kills confidence – action builds it. Instead of waiting for the perfect time to start a new habit, just start now. I know how easy it is to say you’ll start Monday, or at the beginning of the month, or at the New Year. What usually happens when this time comes? You have a reason to push it off again for fear you can’t do it perfectly.

Perfection doesn’t create results, progress does! There will never be a perfect time. Adjust as you go. Stop saying, “I’ll try” and start saying, “I will.”

Confidence isn’t something you wish for – it’s something you train every single day. Like a muscle, you have to do the reps. Confidence isn’t about wishing – it’s about training and it starts today!
