
I wanted to share a personal health update with you. My passion for helping women and mom’s live their best, most “YOU” life is something that drives a lot of my own actions. I want this to be encouragement to you that if you’re feeling stuck, unsure, or just not where you want to be, you can do this!
Where did this all start?
In January 2024, I realized I needed a new rhythm. I needed something that honored the season of life I was in as a woman, a mom, and someone who wanted to feel good in her body again. I’m sure you’ve been in this place before. I wasn’t necessarily needing to lose weight or make drastic changes to my life but I know my body needed something different for this season.
Physically I felt fine, not great. Mentally I was ok, not great. Emotionally, I was in a good place, not the best one. Nothing was terribly wrong. Honestly, it just didn’t feel like what I was doing was working for ME. I had all these habits that I thought were good, and they were for a time, but I was forcing them. Finally I decided that I needed to switch things up and make a change for what would work now.
Shifts I made in 2024
The first big shift I made was looking at my goals and habits with more intention, not perfection. This took such a huge mental load off me, that I was able to approach the changes with confidence. I changed my daily habits in food, movement, and mindset.
For movement, I made a habit to get daily exercise. But, I didn’t force myself into workouts that didn’t work for me. I incorporated daily walks (I could do these by myself, with the kids, or on vacation!).
For food, I upped my protein, and started eating based on how my body felt. This wasn’t perfect. I still enjoy a treat with my kids and nothing is off limits. I did this with counting macros, cycling through deficits and maintenance macros to keep my body feeling its best. This has become so much easier over time.
What I know now
Sticking with these changes when I wasn’t seeing results felt heavy. But if I learned anything over this time, it’s that even when I wasn’t seeing massive changes, it was working. Here we are 1 year later and I’ve lost 26 inches. I feel SO MUCH more like ME. My relationship with my body, food, and health has shifted to a positive and empactful space.
I want to encourage you to do something different. If you are stuck in a place where nothing feels like it’s working then this is your sign to do something different. It’s not easy. But it’s SO SO worth it! You don’t have to overhaul everything. Start with one thing an sleep showing up for it. You got this!
