Have you ever woken up and felt like you aged 20 years?
Maybe you fought with your pillow in your sleep, had stressful dreams, and now you feel achiness and soreness in your body.
It would be nice to leisurely get out of bed and slowly awake. But duty calls - breakfast must be made, kids need to get out the door and laundry is waiting.
Although tasks need to be completed, it is important that you are in a place where you are ready for the day.
Self-Care is valuable and helpful.
If possible, wake up an hour earlier every day. This is YOUR HOUR.
Stretch your arms, legs, back, and neck. Complete some helpful exercises and get your blood flowing again.
If you’re a runner, go on a run in the neighborhood. If you want to take it slower, jog or take a walk. Listen to a podcast or some uplifting songs as you move.
List of Podcast Ideas:
The Happy Hour with Jamie Ivey
The Next Right Thing with Emily P. Freeman
If you like to do yoga, look up some exercises on YouTube.
And don’t forget the coffee. Or tea. Life and your perspective on it is much better with a cup of some hot goodness in your mug.
Maybe you have a favorite spot where you like to sit with your mug. Make it cozy, whether it’s your porch swing or arm chair with a comfy blanket. While you’re here, take a few minutes to read and reflect.
Write out your intentions for the day. Set some goals. Prioritize what needs to be accomplished first. Write out a manageable “to do” list.
Here’s a hint. Continue the self-care at the end of your day too.
At night, continue your rituals. After the kids are asleep, and your husband is watching his favorite show, put on a charcoal facial mask. Take care of your skin. Invest in it!
Facial Mask Options:
Before you fall asleep, read a good book. Peppermint tea is always a good pairing.
Reflect on the goals you created in the morning. Celebrate the wins of the day as well as lessons learned.
Flavors of Tea:
Bigelow Peppermint Herbal Tea, 20 Count
Teavana Jade Citrus Mint Tea Bags - 15ct/1.2oz
Yogi Tea - Ginger (4 Pack) - Supports Healthy Digestion - 64 Tea Bags
By taking care of yourself at night, you’re prepping for a good night’s sleep. And when you wake up, start your self-care process all over again.
