Abundance. It's a word that I have held close in the past year. It's a word that I bring up regularly with my clients. Two and a half years ago, I was living in more fear than I was in a life of abundance. I was battling negative thoughts that I would never be successful in a career that I loved. I believed that I couldn't have a job that I truly enjoyed because I wasn't smart enough to do it. Pushing past fear led to abundance in so many ways.
The FEAR was crippling.
Growing up, I never believed I would amount to much. I lived in a chaotic home environment and struggled in school. Life was challenging. I became an adult and grew in my faith. As a result, I had to work through the root of my issues and needed to change the way I thought about myself and my life.
Through time with the Lord, my husband, friends, and a community of women, I began to change the narrative that I wrote in my mind. I started to see the possibilities instead of the road blocks. For the first time in a long time, I believed in myself, fully graspeing that I was made on purpose and for a purpose. I was a daughter of the most high King!
During this process, I experienced a mindset shift.
My desire is for other women to know that they CAN! They can be successful. They can have power over their minds and flourish in their businesses. They can walk in abundance instead of feeling stuck in fear.
When I thought about certain values that were important to me as I started coaching, I decided on these attributes: Positivity. Joy. Vulnerability. Safe. Abundance. I wanted to provide a space for women that would cultivate these things.
What can ABUNDANCE look like in your life?
Take the time to think and write down what you want for your life. List the specifics.
Here are some examples:
Physical space to work
Maybe you don’t have a fancy office. In time, maybe that’s something you’ll invest in. For now, find space in your home for YOU. Grab a comfy chair, a table, a lamp, a plant, a framed picture that inspires you. Don’t forget your laptop!
Time to work
Chances are you probably have another full time job: mom, student or another career. Find abundance in the specific hours you block off for precious work or project time. Protect those minutes and hours. They are yours!
Investing in your work
If Adobe InDesign or a new Mac with more storage is crucial for your line of work, save money to purchase that program or piece of technology. Sign up for a webinar or a conference to grow in a specific area, be enriched, and give you ideas for your own business. Buy from your local bookstore or check out books from your local library to be inspired and encouraged.
Rest
Make time to REST. There is always something to work on. The list doesn’t end. Tackling a big project is always best after some quality sleep.
Relationships
Abundance can take place in your relationships. Look for a community to build you up. Allow mentors and counselors who have gone before you to speak wisdom and offer help when needed. Walk with people who care about you and want you to have a fulfilling and joyful life.
Perspective + Gratitude
In short, it’s all about your perspective. Have a positive outlook during the day and throughout your week. Look at what God has done. Practice gratitude. Right down the blessings you’ve been given and the answered prayers.
In all things, remember the abundance you’ve been given. Look forward to the abundant future ahead of you. Your story isn’t over. You’re a beautiful work in progress. Abundance is waiting. All you have to do is step into it.
