Hello!

Healthy, On-The-Go Snacks Your Kids Will Love

Nutrition

December 3, 2020

This year has brought on so much change in our lives. Yet, even through the disappointment, we still look forward to the cheeriness and certain traditions of the holiday season.

How we choose to celebrate may change, but we can still celebrate - whether we are spending time with extended family or staying in for the holiday.

Travel looks different too. Maybe you always fly to the grandparents’ house, but this year, you want to avoid airports. So, instead, the family is going on a road trip!

It’s important to be equipped with all the snacks as kids are ALWAYS HUNGRY!

Rather than relying on fast food restaurants and gas station selections, be armed and ready with healthy car snacks your kids will enjoy. You’ll reduce the crankiness and have full tummies! Plus, fewer stops along the way might lessen the “ARE WE THERE YET” inquiries!

Apple Chips

These yummy apple chips consist of dried apples that come in a package. No need to peel the skin, deal with seeds, and chop apples with the paring knife in the car. They are accessible and ready to eat!

Mini Oranges

Just peel, and break apart the orange slices. Add the slices to a baggie. Perhaps, bag, up the peels as a bonus air freshener for the car!

Trail Mix Blend

Trail Mix is a bag of energy! It is full of nuts and dried fruit. A must have snack for the road. Almonds, Cashews, Walnuts, Pecans, Pistachios, Sunflower Seeds, Pumpkin Seeds, Raisins, Cherries, Apricots, Blueberries are some great ingredients for a healthy trail mix.

Optional: Popcorn, Peanuts, M&M’s

Kind Kids Bar or CLIF Kids Zbar

It’s all in a bar, ready to go!

Pack a Kind Kids Chewy Chocolate Chip or a Kind Kinds Chewy Honey Oat.

Hummus Pack with Pretzels

A little bit of sodium added to some healthy, delightful hummus. A great pick-me-up!

Cheese Stick

Dairy on a stick. It’s a great protein option. You can’t go wrong, especially, with those individually wrapped cheese sticks!

Applesauce Packs

It’s a serving of fruit on the go. They come in a lot of different flavors and will be easy to eat on travel days.

Your Child’s Favorite Snack

Your kid knows what they like. But just in case, here are a few FAVORITE snack ideas:

  • Pudding Cup
  • Chocolate Chip Cookie
  • A little baggie with Annie’s Organic Birthday Cake Baked Bunny Graham (Goodness - these little morsels are DELICIOUS!)

These car ride snack options are sure to please the littles in your life. Add them to your shopping list before travel day. Enjoy snacking on the road!
