Summer is here! I don’t know about you, but summertime means change, and with change, I usually need a motivational pep talk! Not because I don’t like summer, but it can be a bit chaotic at times.
I think we can get in our heads this time of year that we need to be doing all the things, all the time. But what would it look like for us to slow down a bit and enjoy summer instead of wishing it away? Whether you are a mom or someone just counting down the days until the next vacation or time off, I want us all to live these 2 months with intentionality! I want you to find balance and confidence in the midst of the chaos and routine shake ups!
What would it look like for you to slow down and focus on the time you have with your kids or friends this summer?
Slowing down might seem like a crazy word to put in there but we can set intentions for our summer.
This looks different for everyone. For me, 2 years ago I decided not to take new clients during the summer months. I was only going to work with current clients + nurture my membership clients that I have in my coaching program.
At first, I was really nervous about what would happen to the leads I had or new ones that came in. I was thinking about all the negative things that might happen.
What I have found is stepping back and giving myself that time off in those certain areas has given me more intentional time with my kids. There are still some work things that happen in the summer but the biggest bulk was off my shoulders. The best part? Leads continued to come in.
For you, I recommend making a list of ways you can prioritize certain tasks and set up boundaries with the time you have this summer. For all of you who are moms like me, you only get 18 summers with each of your kids so I want to use those intentionally.
Let’s talk about your health habits during the summer!
If you have been consistent with your health habits for the first 5 months of the year, don’t just throw out all those things you have been doing because it’s summer and you want to live it up.
I know the schedule and routine might look different. Set intentions and goals for when you are going to do your workout each day or go on your walk. Continue to meal plan for the week. Yes, be flexible but also have some sort of plan. The biggest thing is for you to stay active and keep your body nourished. When you prioritize that you will feel good.
Just like weekends aren’t an excuse to quit on all your health habits or goals, neither is the summer! Keep them up and you will thank yourself in August!
Make small mindset shifts during your day.
One of the best things I do for myself in the summer is give myself time in the morning for myself. That doesn’t mean you have to get up at 5am, I certainly don’t. But give yourself that time in the morning to do something for you when you start the day. This could be your quiet time, reading while enjoying your coffee, going on a walk, doing a workout, or taking your time getting ready. Whatever it looks like for you! This has helped my day start off on the right foot.
Lastly, I want to mention changing the language around how we talk about certain things. Instead of the “I have to” language, change to “I get to!”. I know this might seem small but something happens when we recognize the blessings and express gratitude for them.
I love summer! Everything about it!
I challenge you to think of one fun thing you can do this week with your family or something you will intentionally do to fill your cup!
