Staying hydrated is crucial for your overall health. That’s the broad benefit. Chances are you aren’t drinking near enough water.
Have you thought about what water actually does for your body and health?
Here are a few of the benefits of drinking water you might not notice directly:
- Carries nutrients to your cells
- Helps with your digestion (including preventing constipation)
- Regulate blood pressure
- Improve heart health
Sounds great right? While you may not feel or notice these directly, there are other benefits that are more obvious.
These are a few of the benefits you can see & feel:
- More energy
- Helps with weight loss
- Better skin complexion
Now that you know the benefits, the common question is always “how much water should I drink in a day?” This tends to vary depending on your lifestyle and goals but a general rule of thumb is always 50% of your weight in ounces of water. If you are on a fitness journey, you’ll want to increase that number.
Hate water? You’re not alone in that. Many people just simply don’t enjoy drinking water. There are quite a few ways to uplevel your water making it more enjoyable should you want to. There are tons of great sugar free additives you can add to your water to enhance the flavor.
Maybe you don’t hate water but enjoy other things more. In this case, I recommend setting goals for yourself such as – have a glass of water before your cup of coffee. Or drink x amount of water before you have your soda. It also makes it easier if you always have water with you. Fill up your favorite water bottle and keep it with you. The more you see it, the more likely you are to drink it.
Drinking enough water and staying hydrated is especially important in the summer months. Maintaining your health and achieving your goals must involve adequate water intake and hydration. Don’t skip out on the water as you are enjoying the summer activities.
