We hear all the time, use your voice for good or use your voice for influence. What does that really mean? I remember 5 years ago when I started my business I was so nervous and part of that was because I wasn’t sure what my voice was going to be in this space.
My friend Wren Robbins shared some real knowledge with me that I want to share with you! Wren has been married for 20 years, is a mom to an 11 year old, and has a golden retriever. She loves watching women walking in their gifts, finding their voice, and using them in a GRAND way to attract people through their podcasts so that they can bear much fruit!!!
Her job is literally helping women find their voice and use it for good.
I asked her what she would say to someone who is struggling to find their voice. What are some practice tips or questions they should ask themselves. She said she would write down the answers to the following questions:
- What things light you up that you are passionate about talking about?
- What do you feel you are gifted at? What are the talents God has gifted to you?
- What avenue do you think you are good at? Audio, video, writing?
These are great places to start!
I also asked her what are some things she has done to help instill this in her children in a world that is so loud with other people speaking into our kid’s lives.
Wren explained that leadership looks differently at all ages of our lives. It may look a little bossy when you are 8 or 9 but eventually (if guided well) it looks like a strong leader. Being a faith-based business owner and family, we know that the only way to produce fruit or have what it takes is to stay connected to the vine (abiding in God) so of course that is what we focus on.
Comparison when finding your voice can be a struggle.
I asked Wren how to overcome this. She said when we struggle with comparing ourselves to someone who is doing something very similar to what we are doing we do it because we are focusing on the wrong thing. The only way to resolve this type of comparison is to KNOW YOU WHY.
Anybody can share the what or the how of a program but until you serve with the why behind it, you will be questioning or comparing yourself with others. OUR story is something we’ve walked through. At some point we had a transformation and you want others to have the same results!
Our stories matter, They matter because they are unique to us.
