One of my favorite things about being in the health space is getting to walk with women on their own personal journeys.
In fitness, we know that everyone’s journey and perspective look different. What’s for sure? Food and exercise can brings you freedom.
A common thing I see in a lot of women’s stories is to have the body they want and to feel the way they want, they have to deprive themselves. Such a misconception!
There’s no better person to talk about this than my friend and client Amanda Price. She’s a wife, and mom, and loves all things health!
When Amanda was growing up she always had an understanding that health and nutrition mattered. She knew her body was going to change as she had children. That didn’t change the fact that she didn’t like those changes. She desperately wanted to look and feel like herself after each of her pregnancies.
I asked her 3 questions that I think all of us can learn from her answers.
First, I asked her what she would say to other moms who might be feeling the same way about their body changes after pregnancy.
She said she wishes she would have given herself more grace. Take time to snuggle your baby and rest at every opportunity you can. Then, when your body is fully healed, start walking.
Second, I asked her what she would say to someone stuck in the hamster wheel of under-eating and only focusing on cardio.
Amanda said she would ask what their fear is in trying something else. You can always go back to what you were doing if you don’t love this method. And chances are that what you’re doing doesn’t make you feel good or shape your muscles as you desire.
Third, I asked her if she had to choose one thing that has helped her stay consistent in her health journey, what is it?
She said that having a coach and a community helped her stay accountable for decisions she had made. Having a community to cheer her on made all the difference.
Amanda is a beautiful testament to what it looks like to pursue your health in a consistent way. It doesn’t have to be all or nothing.
