Journal Prompts For The Holiday Season

Mindset

November 19, 2024

holiday season

Taking time to reflect during the busy holiday period is one of the most impactful parts of my year. There is so much to be grateful for and taking time to realize that can be super helpful in creating an amazing rest of the year. The easiest way to do this is by journaling. Journaling helps create calm and clarity, something we could all use during the busy holiday season.

Why is journaling valuable during the holidays?

Journaling helps with managing holiday stress, staying grounded, and focusing on gratitude amidst the hustle and bustle. It can enhance your mindfulness, boost mental clarity, and serve as a space to process emotions.

Not only that but journaling is a great way to set the stage for the year ahead, helping people recognize what they’re grateful for, what challenges you’ve faced, and what you want to achieve going forward.

What are the best practices for journaling?

The biggest thing is to find a time where you can be consistent. Whether that’s morning or night, I encourage you to find 5-10 minutes a day when you know you have time. Journaling is for you! There’s no right or wrong way. It’s your opportunity to be open, raw, and honest with your reflections.

When journaling, your thoughts don’t have to be in order. Oftentimes we think it has to be organized and put together. It’s okay if your thoughts seem scattered or unclear. Journaling is a process of discovery. To enhance your experience, you could always use a special notebook or app to make it feel more personal to you and your experience.

10 journal prompts for the holiday season

These prompts are designed to encourage reflection, gratitude, and future planning. I recommend taking these prompts one day at a time. Really reflect as you go through them.

  1. What are you most grateful for this holiday season?
  2. What was your biggest challenge this year, and how did you overcome it?
  3. How can you show yourself more compassion during the holidays?
  4. What traditions or activities bring you joy during the holiday season?
  5. How do you want to feel going into the new year?
  6. What is one thing you can do to simplify your life during the holidays?
  7. How can you give back to others during this season in a way that feels meaningful to you?
  8. What is one lesson you learned this year that you want to carry forward into the next?
  9. How do you plan to prioritize self-care over the holidays?
  10. What are you most excited about for the coming year?

Journaling is a great way to find peace and joy during the hectic holiday season.
